Job summary

The School Board of Broward County, Florida is seeking staff for the on-site Before and After School Care program to provide safe, enriching activities for students. The role emphasizes supervising activities, maintaining positive behavior, and ensuring safety across play areas.

Applicants should have a high school diploma or GED, prior work with school-age children, and be prepared to complete BASCC components I & II within the first year and Florida My Florida modules.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Volunteer work with school-age children in a group setting preferred.
• Within the 1st year, BASCC Components I & II must be completed.
• Within the 1st year, complete Florida My Florida modules: SNP (10h), UDAP (5h), SAP (5h); PSP not acceptable.
• At least 10 hours of BASCC Child Care training are required each year of employment.
• Computer skills are required as needed for the position.
• Must be 18 years of age or older.

Responsibilities

• Directly supervise or facilitate activities to provide appropriate experiences for children.
• Set and maintain behavior standards using non-punitive methods.
• Provide direct supervision of play areas to ensure safety and quality.
• Participate in evaluating activities and scheduling for children.
• Assist in procuring equipment and cleanup of supplies for planned activities.
• Report incidents to appropriate personnel.
• Provide input on needed program supplies and materials.
• Maintain cooperative relationships with staff and interact positively with parents.

• Participate in training programs to enhance job skills.
• Review current developments and literature related to responsibilities.
• Ensure adherence to safety rules, procedures and district policies.
• Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
