Job summary

The School Board of Broward County, Florida is seeking a candidate to plan and conduct the Before and After School Care program on-site, ensuring safety and enrichment for participants. Responsibilities include planning developmentally appropriate activities, creating lesson plans, training staff, and maintaining materials per BASCC standards.

Qualified applicants will have a bachelor’s degree, willingness to complete required trainings within the first year, and strong computer skills.

Qualifications

• An earned bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.
• Any training and/or experience working with school age children in a group supervision setting are preferred.
• Within the first year of employment, complete the Child Abuse and Neglect training, and attain First Aid and CPR certification and maintain certification.
• Within the first year of employment attend at least ten hours of approved Before and After School Child Care training.
• Ten hours of BASCC approved training is required each additional year of employment.
• Demonstrated appropriate personal characteristics for working with children, youth and adults.
• Computer skills required as needed for the position.

Responsibilities

• Adhere to Before and After School Child Care Quality Standards.
• Write, plan, and oversee the implementation of developmentally appropriate activities that fit the weekly activity schedule.
• Develop a scope and sequence for activities on school calendar.
• Create weekly written lesson plans and present plans to supervisor for approval.
• Train staff presenting activities; provide instruction and coaching for program improvement.
• Ensure compliance with equal employment and non-discrimination policies.
• Follow safety rules and School Board policies.
• Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
