Job summary

National Youth Advocate Program in Chicago, IL seeks a Crisis Support Specialist to handle after-hours calls from ERH foster parents, provide crisis intervention, emotional support, and document all interventions. You will help de-escalate crises, coordinate with custodial agencies, and maintain strong relationships with foster families.

Required are a bachelor’s degree in human services or related field and 1 year in youth services; strong listening and speaking skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in human services, social work, or behavioral/social sciences.
• 1 year of experience in youth services, preferably with direct experience in child welfare or foster care.
• Ability to stay alert after hours; strong listening and speaking skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform all work in a manner consistent with NYAP’s mission and values.
• Develop and maintain connections with ERH foster parents.
• Provide daily contact with foster parents to build relationships.
• Handle all after-hours calls from ERH foster parents.
• Provide live crisis support for youth and ERH foster parents in need.
• De-escalate crises and document interventions and services.
• Identify and assist in implementing behavior stabilization techniques.
• Provide transportation for clients when needed.
• Gather information for incident reports and notify custodial agencies.
