Job summary

Aerotek is seeking a Certified Welding Inspector to ensure weld quality for aerospace/aviation assemblies on the manufacturing floor in Atlanta, GA. The role requires hands-on inspections across multiple codes and internal specs, with emphasis on documentation and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities include witnessing NDT and destructive tests, maintaining WPS/PQR/WPQ records, and supporting MRB decisions. Contract-to-hire with competitive hourly pay and comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

• AWS CWI certification required.
• 3+ years welding inspection experience.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, weld symbols and GD&T per ASME Y14.5.
• Experience reviewing WPS, PQR, WPQ documentation.
• Strong documentation and communication skills.
• High school diploma or GED.

Responsibilities

• Perform pre-weld, in-process, and post-weld visual inspections per AWS D17.1, ASME IX, and relevant codes.
• Verify WPS compliance including traceability and heat input checks.
• Inspect GTAW, GMAW, and laser welds on various alloys and monitor weld quality.
• Interpret drawings and weld symbols; define inspection criteria.
• Review and witness WPQ, PQR, and welder qualification records.
• Coordinate NDT (PT, RT, UT, MT) inspections and destructive tests.
• Document results and support MRB dispositions.
• Exercise stop-work authority when non-conformances are found.
• Collaborate with welders/engineers on root-cause analysis.
• Develop inspection checklists and improve the weld quality program.
• Support supplier quality through source inspections.
