Job summary

Technique is seeking a Certified Weld Inspector (CWI) to join our Quality team at our Jackson, Michigan facility. You will perform visual weld inspections, review weld procedures and welder qualifications, and support audits and continuous improvement across prototype and production manufacturing.

The ideal candidate has aerospace welding experience, AS9100 or NADCAP environments, and a minimum of 5 years in weld inspection.

Qualifications

• Current AWS Certified Weld Inspector (CWI) certification is required.
• Minimum 5 years of weld inspection experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Strong knowledge of GMAW (MIG), GTAW (TIG), resistance welding, and robotic welding processes.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, weld symbols, and GD&T.
• Experience using precision inspection equipment including calipers, micrometers, gauges, and height gauges.
• Excellent documentation and communication skills; proficient with Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

• Perform visual weld inspections in accordance with AWS standards, customer specifications, and engineering drawings.
• Verify weld quality throughout prototype and production manufacturing.
• Interpret welding symbols, blueprints, GD&T, and engineering specifications.
• Ensure compliance with AWS D1.1, AWS D17.1 (preferred), customer specifications, and internal procedures.
• Review weld procedures (WPS), PQR, and WPQ.
• Conduct first article, in-process, and final acceptance inspections.
• Document inspection results and maintain quality records.
• Support root cause investigations and corrective actions.
• Collaborate with Welding Engineers, Manufacturing Engineers, Production, and Quality teams.
