Job summary

Blue Origin is seeking a mechanical/manufacturing engineer to design tooling, fixtures and Ground Support Equipment for lunar vehicle hardware. You will work with design, manufacturing, technicians, quality and operations to develop and implement toolings and processes with a focus on rapid, modular solutions.

Qualifications

• B.S. degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, Manufacturing Engineering, or related technical discipline.
• 3+ years of experience in manufacturing engineering, tooling design, GSE design, production support, or hardware development.
• Experience designing, developing, releasing, and implementing tooling, fixtures, handling equipment, or GSE for mechanical assemblies.
• Proficiency with 3D CAD tools, GD&T, tolerance analysis, and manufacturability considerations.
• Experience supporting production operations, resolving nonconformances, and ensuring safety and quality compliance.
• Experience with hand‑calculations for structural analysis of tooling and GSE.

Responsibilities

• Design tooling, fixtures, handling equipment, and Ground Support Equipment for efficient manufacturing, with modularity and rapid implementation.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to develop new or revised build processes and tooling concepts.
• Plan builds of engineering demonstrators, test articles, and prototype hardware with hands‑on support.
• Drive DFX principles, conduct producibility assessments, and develop roadmaps to close manufacturing gaps.
• Define and refine tooling and GSE requirements for rapid design, fabrication, deployment, and iteration.
• Develop and maintain engineering docs, CAD models, drawings, specs, and procedures.
• Support tooling fabrication, validation, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement for lunar hardware.
