Job summary

Blue Origin is seeking an experienced tooling and fixture engineer to design production, development, test, and integration tooling for the Blue Engines, Lunar, and New Glenn programs.

You will collaborate with design and manufacturing teams to deliver reliable tooling, interpret ASME Y14.5 drawings, and manage projects from concept through commissioning in a fast-paced aerospace environment.

Qualifications

• B.S. degree in Engineering or equivalent work experience.
• 10+ years’ experience with design, build, and commissioning of tooling, fixtures, custom machines or design support equipment for manufacturing, assembly, and test.
• Experience with FEM and complex structural analysis in addition to hand calculations with Freebody diagrams.
• Proven experience with CAD based design software for modeling and drafting.
• Basic understanding of materials, GD&T, and tolerance/stack-up analysis.
• U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident, or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

Responsibilities

• Design production, development, test, integration, and advanced manufacturing tooling and equipment for multiple business units.
• Integrate concepts of mechanical design and analysis across projects in a fast-paced environment.
• Interpret and apply drafting standards (ASME Y14.5) when creating drawings.
• Handle a wide range of tooling and fixture design challenges for assemblies, test fixtures, and environmental chambers.
• Collaborate with component designers, manufacturing engineers, and integration engineering to optimize safety, cost, quality, and delivery.
• Manage projects from vendor selection to commissioning of custom tooling and ensure schedules and budgets are met.
