Job summary

Blue Origin is seeking a tooling-focused Manufacturing Engineer to design tooling, fixtures, and Ground Support Equipment for lunar vehicle hardware at Space Coast, FL. You will work with cross-functional teams across design, manufacturing, and quality to implement manufacturability improvements and rapid production solutions.

Qualifications

• B.S. degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, Manufacturing Engineering, or related technical discipline, or equivalent relevant experience.
• 3+ years of experience in manufacturing engineering, tooling design, GSE design, production support, or hardware development.
• Designing, developing, releasing, and implementing tooling, fixtures, handling equipment, or other GSE for mechanical assemblies.
• Proficiency with 3D CAD tools, GD&T, tolerance analysis, DFM/DFMA, and controlled documentation.
• Experience supporting production operations, resolving nonconformances, and ensuring compliance with safety, quality and regulatory requirements.
• Hand-calculations for structural analysis of tooling and GSE strength, stability, and failure modes.
• Experience with issue-tracking tools and MS Office for engineering docs and production tasks.
• Strong communication, independence, urgency, and cross-functional collaboration in dynamic environments.
• Willingness to extend hours to meet critical milestones.
• US citizen or lawful U.S. status (citizen, permanent resident, or qualified immigrant).

Responsibilities

• Design tooling, fixtures, handling equipment, and Ground Support Equipment for manufacturing, with emphasis on modularity and rapid deployment.
• Collaborate with design, manufacturing, quality, and operations to develop new build processes and tooling concepts.
• Plan and support builds of demonstrators and prototype hardware, providing hands-on fabrication, assembly, and test support.
• Drive DFx principles, perform producibility assessments, and develop roadmaps to bridge manufacturing technology gaps.
• Define, develop, and refine tooling and GSE requirements for rapid design, fabrication, deployment, and iteration.
• Develop, release, and maintain CAD models, drawings, specs, and procedures for tooling and production.
• Support tooling fabrication, validation, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement for lunar vehicle hardware.
