Job summary

Saab West Lafayette, IN is seeking a Technical Writer to join the team that supports the T-7A Redhawk program. You will serve as the local SME for technical writing and collaborate with inspectors across shifts to ensure accuracy and compliance.

Responsibilities include generating NCRs, inspection plans, FAIs, MRBs, and maintaining quality documentation while aligning with ISO9001/AS9100 practices. Strong written/verbal skills and teamwork are essential.

Qualifications

• AS degree in Quality/Technical Writing or related STEM, or 3 years of manufacturing quality experience.
• Previous technical writing experience in manufacturing or quality operations is required.
• Ability to articulate technical product and process requirements for electro-mechanical assembly.
• Ability to interpret and revise documentation for consistency and efficiency.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Collaborative problem-solving approach.
• Self-driven and able to deliver high-quality results across a global team.
• Willingness to work extended hours when needed.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the local SME for technical writing and guide inspectors across shifts.
• Report on writing performance and turnaround time to leadership.
• Identify common quality issues and establish corrective actions.
• Develop best practices for technical writing and update them as needed.
• Handle NCRs, inspection plans/Control Plans, FAIs, and MRB dispositions.
• Develop knowledge of customer/industry quality requirements.
• Provide controls/solutions to deliver high-quality products on schedule.
• Act as primary contact in non-conformance investigations and material assessments.
• Contribute to Saab's people-first culture, aligned with Saab values.
• Other projects and tasks as assigned.
