Job summary

Saab is expanding its West Lafayette, IN facility and seeks 3rd shift Structural Assemblers to build the aft fuselage for the U.S. Air Force T-7A Red Hawk trainer. You will assemble aircraft structures, train new team members, and contribute to a state-of-the-art production system.

Starting hourly rate is $23-$25 with a $2.00 per hour shift premium; Saab provides on-site training through its Aerospace structures academy and opportunities to grow within a longstanding defense industry leader.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of relevant assembly or hand tool experience.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
• Ability to select and safely use appropriate hand and power tools.
• Ability to follow standardized procedures and maintain consistent quality.
• Strong communication, collaboration, and teamwork skills.
• Ability to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive physical tasks, including bending, stooping, twisting, kneeling, reaching, and gripping.
• Ability to frequently lift up to 25 lbs. and occasionally lift up to 50 lbs.
• Ability to work extended hours and weekends as required.

Responsibilities

• Execute standardized procedures to install systems and perform final assembly on the aircraft fuselage.
• Deliver work according to quality requirements and work instructions in a team-based environment.
• Support daily continuous improvement focused on safety, quality, cost, delivery, and morale.
• Complete functional testing of assemblies and systems.
• Handle Class A surfaces including touch-up painting.
• Sign off when work is complete per specifications.
• Assist in training and knowledge transfer to new employees.
• Contribute to a positive and productive work environment aligned with company values.
