Job summary

Saab in West Lafayette, IN is seeking 3rd shift Structural Assemblers to build the aft fuselage for the U.S. Air Force's T-7A Red Hawk trainer. The roles include assembling aircraft sections, training new team members, and contributing to our state-of-the-art production system.

Start rate is 23–25 USD per hour, plus a 2 USD shift premium. Ongoing, on-site training is provided through the Aerospace structures training academy, with anticipated start in early December 2026.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of relevant assembly or hand tool experience.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
• Ability to select and safely use appropriate hand and power tools.
• Ability to follow standardized procedures and maintain consistent quality.
• Strong communication, collaboration, and teamwork skills.
• Ability to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive physical tasks, including bending, stooping, twisting, kneeling, reaching, and gripping.
• Ability to frequently lift up to 25 lbs. and occasionally lift up to 50 lbs.
• Ability to work extended hours and weekends as required.

Responsibilities

• Execute standardized procedures to deliver 100% quality and install systems and final assembly on the aircraft fuselage.
• Deliver work according to quality requirements and work instructions in a team-based environment.
• Support daily continuous improvement focusing on safety, quality, cost, delivery, and morale.
• Complete functional testing of assemblies and systems.
• Handle Class A surfaces including touch-up painting.
• Sign off when work is complete according to specification.
• Support training and transfer of knowledge to new employees.
• Contribute to a positive and productive work environment aligned with company values.
• Other tasks as assigned and authorized.
