Job summary

Saab in West Lafayette, IN seeks a Technical Writer to join our team manufacturing the rear section of the T-7A Redhawk for the US Air Force. You will act as the local SME for technical writing and guide inspectors across shifts, ensuring high-quality documentation and conformance to industry standards.

Responsibilities include developing best practices, producing NCRs, FAI, MRB dispositions, and coordinating with leadership on performance and corrective actions.

Qualifications

• AS Degree in Quality, Technical Writing, or related STEM field, or 3 years’ manufacturing quality experience.
• Previous technical writing experience in manufacturing or quality operations.
• Ability to articulate technical requirements for electro-mechanical assembly.
• Excellent written and verbal communication and collaborative problem-solving.
• Willingness to work extended hours when needed.

Responsibilities

• Serve as local SME for technical writing and train inspectors across multiple shifts.
• Report on writing performance and turnaround times to leadership.
• Identify common quality issues and establish corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
• Develop best practices for technical writing and update as needed.
• Prepare NCRs, Inspection Plans/Control Plans, FAIs, and MRB dispositions.
• Develop strong working knowledge of customer/industry quality requirements.
• Provide controls/solutions to deliver high-quality products on schedule.
• Primary contact for non-conformance investigations and material assessments.
