Job summary

Saab West Lafayette, IN, is seeking a Technical Writer to join our team manufacturing the rear section of the T-7A Redhawk for the U.S. Air Force. The role supports local SME activities and Quality systems.

You will develop and maintain writing standards, generate NCRs, FAIs, MRBs, and work with cross-functional teams to ensure on-time delivery and compliance with ISO/AS standards. The position requires technical writing experience in manufacturing and a willingness to work extended hours.

Qualifications

• AS Degree in Quality, Technical Writing, or related STEM discipline, or 3 years’ related manufacturing quality experience.
• Previous technical writing experience in manufacturing or quality operation is required.
• Ability to articulate technical product/process requirements for electro-mechanical assembly.
• Interpret and revise written documentation for consistency and efficient repetition.
• Effective written and verbal communication; collaborative problem-solving.
• Self-driven with ability to deliver high-quality results across a global team.
• Willingness to work extended hours when needed.

Responsibilities

• Serve as local SME for technical writing; provide guidance for inspectors across shifts.
• Report on writing performance and turnaround time to leadership.
• Identify common quality issues and establish corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
• Develop best practices for technical writing; maintain updates.
• Handle NCRs, Inspection Plans/Control Plans, FAIs, and MRB dispositions.
• Develop knowledge of customer/industry quality requirements; ensure on-time delivery.
• Act as primary contact in non-conformance investigations and material assessments.
