Job summary

Saab West Lafayette in West Lafayette, IN, seeks a Technical Writer to join a team that produces the rear section of the T-7A Redhawk training aircraft for the USAF. The role acts as local SME for technical writing and trains inspectors across shifts, with ownership of NCRs, FAIs, MRBs, and inspection plans, while aligning with Saab quality standards.

You will develop best practices, report performance, and drive corrective actions to ensure high-quality product deliveries within schedule.

Qualifications

• AS Degree in Quality, Technical Writing, or related STEM discipline OR 3 years’ related experience in a manufacturing quality role required.
• Experience in manufacturing quality and technical writing in a manufacturing environment required.
• Ability to interpret and revise written documentation/work instructions for consistency and efficient repetition.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the local SME for technical writing and provide guidance/training for inspectors across multiple shifts.
• Report on writing performance and turnaround time to leadership.
• Identify common/repeated quality issues and establish corrective actions to prevent reoccurrence.
• Develop best practices for technical writing throughout the organization; maintain/update best practices as needed.
• Responsible for technical writing assignments involving NCRs, Inspection Plans/Control Plans, FAIs, MRBs.
