Job summary

Northrop Grumman's Propulsion team in Commerce, CA is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer at Level 2 or 3 to join the 1st shift. You will create and improve manufacturing processes, review designs for manufacturability, manage MRP BOMs, and support operations to meet quality, delivery, and cost objectives.

The role requires CAD proficiency, GD&T interpretation, and experience with lean methods; for Level 3, five years of relevant experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• 2 years of relevant experience with a Bachelor's degree; 0 years with a Masters; 4 years in lieu of degree
• Lean methodologies in manufacturing/production environments including root-cause and Ishikawa analysis
• AS9100, ISO 9001-2008, AS9145 or similar quality systems
• Proficiency with Computer-Aided Design (CAD) software
• Reading engineering drawings and GD&T interpretation
• Machining processes knowledge: lathe, milling, CNC programming
• Welding and heat treating processes knowledge

Responsibilities

• Create and improve manufacturing processes to meet hardware requirements
• Review engineering designs for manufacturability
• Manage Manufacturing BOM through MRP
• Collaborate with manufacturing teams to meet quality, delivery, and cost objectives
• Communicate manufacturing plans via Manufacturing Readiness Reviews
• Provide technical guidance to operations and assist supervisors on new techniques
• Create manufacturing plans and detailed work instructions
• Update Manufacturing Work Instructions on the shop floor
• Specify special processes, equipment, and fixtures for programs
• Continuously improve manufacturing methods, efficiency, and product quality
• Participate in continuous improvement projects
• Assist in tool design and CAD-based tooling concepts
• Monitor quality discrepancies, investigate problems, and implement corrective actions
• Evaluate manufacturing processes with product design, fabrication, assembly, tooling, and materials knowledge
