Job summary

Northrop Grumman is seeking a Composites Manufacturing Engineer in San Diego to support manufacturing and design engineering on spacecraft systems. The role involves planning workflows, improving composite fabrication methods, and creating detailed work instructions and BOMs.

The engineer will collaborate with design and production teams, applying GD&T and statistical methods to optimize processes and meet project timelines. A DoD clearance may be required for certain positions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or higher in AE/ME engineering with relevant manufacturing experience.
• Experience with lay-up, machining, assembly and inspection of composite materials.

Responsibilities

• Plan, direct, and coordinate manufacturing processes on the factory floor.
• Develop and improve manufacturing methods for spacecraft composites and tooling.
• Design manufacturing workflow and equipment layouts for efficiency.
• Create detailed manufacturing work instructions and BOMs.
• Coordinate with design staff to ensure manufacturability and tooling suitability.
• Estimate production times and costs to support management decisions.
• Apply statistical methods to forecast manufacturing needs and improvements.
