Job summary

Northrop Grumman is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer Level 6 for the Propulsion team in Commerce, CA. You will own the additive manufacturing baseline, guide process development, and collaborate with design leads to ensure manufacturability and readiness.

You will lead CAD/CAM strategy, multi-axis machining, tooling, inspection planning and process qualification on IRAD programs, driving lean improvements on the shop floor.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, manufacturing, aerospace engineering, or a related STEM discipline.
• 14+ years in manufacturing or related field; 12+ with Masters; 10+ with PhD.

Responsibilities

• Manufacturing Baseline Ownership for additive manufacturing, downstream machining, tooling and inspection.
• Translate product requirements into manufacturing processes, controls and readiness evidence.
• Define additive build orientation, supports, process limits and downstream machining standards.
• Lead design-for-manufacturing and design-for-assembly assessments with recommendations.
• Assess GD&T for manufacturability and inspectability; provide concurrence for definitions.
• Develop and optimize CAD/CAM strategies, including multi-axis machining and tool paths.
• Define inspection methods, measurement plans and process controls; maintain design ownership.
