Job summary

Collins Aerospace in Manchester, Iowa, is seeking an on-site Industrial/Manufacturing Engineer Co-op for Summer/Fall 2027. You will work with industrial engineers, operators, and manufacturing support to resolve flow, quality, ergonomic, and safety issues in advanced manufacturing.

You will learn to design fixtures, diagnose manufacturing defects, and operate laser machines and 3D printers. This role builds foundational engineering skills in a real aerospace environment with a strong emphasis on

Qualifications

Actively pursuing a bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Systems Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related STEM major through the completion of the co-op session.
Completion of at least 60 credit hours prior to the start of the internship/co-op session.
Experience with SolidWorks modeling is preferred.
Experience with VBA or other scripting languages is preferred.

Responsibilities

Collaborate with engineers and operators to resolve flow, quality, ergonomic, and safety issues.
Design or improve fixtures and tooling; build, verify, and implement them.
Identify root causes of defects and process inhibitors; implement corrective actions.
Program and operate laser machines, 3D printers and other equipment to develop fixtures.
Support continuous improvement initiatives across manufacturing processes.
