Job summary

RTX is seeking individuals for a 2nd shift training program at our Wells, Maine facility. This role provides on-the-job training to become a certified operator, with a 3-week training phase and 4-8 weeks of hands-on experience.

The position involves setting up and operating NC milling/grinding machines, reading operation sheets, and ensuring parts meet specifications. Collaboration with engineers, QA, and production staff is essential in a high-precision aerospace environment.

Qualifications

• High School or GED required.
• 1+ years of manufacturing, automotive or related trade experience preferred.
• Ability to perform decimal and fractional computations.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining accuracy.

Responsibilities

• Learn to set up and operate NC milling/grinding machines, vertical turret lathes or VTCs to perform routine production operations.
• Verify conformance of finished work to specifications using precision measuring instruments.
• Obtain operator Certification to be able to accept/reject parts.
• Maintain machines by performing total preventive maintenance (TPM).
• Collaborate with engineers, quality assurance, programmers and other production personnel to resolve machining problems.
