Job summary

Blue Origin is seeking a skilled mechanical engineer to join the Lunar Permanence unit, focusing on helium subsystems for the Transfer Stage Vehicle. You will design components and sub-assembly systems, size materials, and analyze for pressure, vibration, fatigue and structural integrity.

The role requires a Bachelor's in mechanical/aerospace engineering, Creo CAD, GD&T, fluid analysis, and experience with gas systems. Collaboration with suppliers and internal teams is essential.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering is required.
  • 5+ years in 3D CAD (Creo preferred).
  • 2+ years designing aerospace fluid or mechanical systems.
  • Knowledge of gas systems.
  • GD&T (ASME Y14.5) proficiency.
  • Experience with flow/pressure calculations and thermal/structural analysis of fluid systems.
  • Knowledge of fluid components (valves, tubing, pressurized hardware).
  • Ability to define interfaces between vehicle subsystems and fluids.

Responsibilities

  • Fluids sub-assembly design and development, CAD modeling (Creo preferred).
  • Analyze components for fluid, thermal, and structural performance.
  • Create P&ID drawings using AutoCAD.
  • Develop specifications for fluid/gas components (valves, manifolds, regulators, vessels).
  • Maintain interface definitions between fluid systems and other subsystems.
  • Perform component trade studies and analyze test data.
  • Coordinate with suppliers and internal teams for procurement and integration.
  • Verify components to company standards.
