Job summary

Pratt & Whitney's Columbus Forge team is seeking a Machinist to set up, operate, and troubleshoot CNC equipment for precision aerospace components. This is a 3rd shift role with Monday – Thursday, 8:00 PM – 6:30 AM, onsite in Columbus, GA.

You will read blueprints, select tooling, and conduct precision dimensional inspections to ensure tolerance compliance. Safety, quality, and continuous improvement are emphasized in daily work.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• CNC machining experience with Okuma/Fanuc 4-axis turning lathes preferred.
• Experience with retooling, maintenance, changeovers, and first article inspection in CNC machining helpful.

Responsibilities

• Set up, operate, and monitor CNC machines, lathes, and other equipment to manufacture aerospace components.
• Read blueprints and engineering drawings to determine machining requirements and tooling.
• Perform dimensional inspections using precision instruments to verify quality and tolerances.
• Troubleshoot issues, perform preventive maintenance, and maximize uptime.
• Collect production data and support continuous improvement and production goals.
• Maintain safety, quality, and 6S standards in a clean, organized work area.

Education

High School Diploma or GED

CNC Machining experience with Okuma and/or Fanuc controlled 4-Axis turning lathes

Machining technical training or military training or Certified Manufacturing Specialist Program
