Job summary

Rolls-Royce plc in Reston, VA is seeking Software System Controls Engineers I & II to design, integrate, and test embedded control software for aero engines. You will participate in agile scrum teams, translating system requirements into software components and ensuring compliance with certification evidence requirements.

The role requires experience with safety-critical control systems, MBSE tools, and hands-on software development in C/C++, Python, and Groovy.

Qualifications

• Experience in safety-critical control systems with embedded software.
• Familiar with Model-based design using SysML and Simulink.
• U.S. citizen per eligibility requirements.

Responsibilities

• Develop safety-critical gas turbine engine control systems with embedded software to meet ARP4754, DO-254, DO-178C and similar standards.
• Integrate hardware and software components within defined architecture for the product line.
• Test embedded control systems at component, control-system, engine, and aircraft levels.
• Develop and modify processes to meet certification objectives and enable faster development.
• Set up CI/CD frameworks to streamline software development and integration.
• Engage with airworthiness authorities to explain approaches and close audit findings.
