Lone Star College-Montgomery is seeking a Specialist III, Advising for Adult Education and Literacy (AEL) to provide initial advising for grant-funded programs and certificates in workforce, GED or continuing education. Registers students in grant-funded Continuing Education classes and supports other staff across campuses and partner locations; some evenings and weekends may be required.

The role collaborates with the AEL Program Manager to meet community needs and ensure efficient operations

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED and at least 3 years of experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience

Responsabilités

• Welcome, greet and provide general support to all Adult Education and Literacy (AEL) prospective students and visitors
• Advise visitors on available orientation and testing session dates and eligibility requirements per AEL program
• Answer multiple phone lines, take messages, and transfer callers; record messages from voicemail and return calls
• Registers and drops students for AEL classes including HSE or GED, ESL, Workforce Education and Training Certificates
• Provides students with information and referrals to resources on campus
• Manage and reply to departmental communications including Remind and AEL inquiries
• Collects and processes documents to enroll students in HSE/GED and administer TABE exam
• Provide support to managers and all AEL staff to ensure efficient operations
• Work with the AEL Program Manager to meet community needs
• Serve as backup tester and advisor for eligibility and course selection
• Notify students and staff about class cancellations or postponements
• Perform other reasonable, related duties as assigned
