Job summary

Houston Methodist is seeking a Senior Medical Assistant Certified (Sr. MA) to provide expert support in complex examinations and treatments under physician and/or RN supervision. This role will oversee care scope, assist with procedures, ensure compliance with CLIA, HIPAA, and NCQA standards, and act as a preceptor for Medical Assistants.

The Sr. MA will schedule appointments, verify care eligibility, and participate in patient care with emphasis on accuracy, safety and compassionate service.

Qualifications

• Five years medical assistant experience with highly complex, chronic disease management or in a specialty discipline.
• Medical assistant certification required (CMA, RMA, NCCT, NAHP, NHA) or RN as applicable.
• Strong knowledge of CLIA, HIPAA, NCQA and related standards.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills.

Responsibilities

• Role models and promotes a positive work environment within the interprofessional care team.
• Collaborates with all care team members and mentors colleagues in clinical reasoning.
• Acts as a clinical resource/preceptor for Medical Assistants.
• Provides direct patient care under physician/nurse supervision and performs pre-visit planning.
• Documents patient information, vital signs and care details in the EMR; ensures patient safety and privacy.
