Job summary

Houston Methodist is seeking a Senior Medical Assistant Certified (Sr. MA) to provide expert clinical support under physician and RN supervision. The role encompasses advanced examinations, treatments, and procedures, along with administrative duties in line with CLIA, HIPAA, and NCQA requirements.

The Sr. MA will act as a clinical resource and preceptor, schedule appointments, verify medical necessity, and ensure accurate documentation in the EMR.

Qualifications

• Five years medical assistant experience with highly complex, chronic disease management or in a specialty discipline.
• Certified Medical Assistant and Basic Life Support (BLS) required.
• Strong communication and English language proficiency.
• Proficient computer skills for documentation and EMR upkeep.

Responsibilities

• Assist with patient examinations, procedures, and dressing changes.
• Schedule patient appointments and verify eligibility for care.
• Serve as preceptor and clinical resource to Medical Assistants.
• Maintain compliance with CLIA, HIPAA, NCQA and government standards.
• Oversee EMR and other clinical support tasks while promoting patient safety.
