Job summary

Houston Methodist is seeking a Senior Medical Assistant Certified (Sr. MA) to provide expert support in advanced examinations and treatments under direct physician or RN supervision. This role includes supervising scope of practice, EMR system usage, and serving as a preceptor and clinical resource for Medical Assistants.

The Sr. MA will assist with patient care, scheduling, ensuring medical necessity compliance, and maintaining high-quality care while adhering to CLIA, HIPAA, and NCQA standards.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Five years of medical assistant experience with complex or chronic disease management preferred.
• Certification as CMA/RMA/NCCT/NAHP/NHA and BLS required.
• Preferred CPT – Certified Phlebotomy Technician (ACA).

Responsibilities

• Assist with patient examinations, procedures, and treatments under physician or RN supervision.
• Schedule patient appointments and verify eligibility for care.
• Maintain accurate medical records and ensure CLIA/HIPAA compliance.
• Mentor and train other Medical Assistants as a clinical resource.
