Job summary

Houston Methodist is seeking a Senior Medical Assistant Certified (Sr. MA) who will serve as an expert in advanced examinations and treatments, working under the direct supervision of a Physician or RN. The role includes clinical support, scheduling, care coordination, and ensuring compliance with CLIA, HIPAA, NCQA, and government standards.

The Sr. MA will act as a preceptor and clinical resource for Medical Assistants, train others, and oversee scope of practice while delivering high-quality

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Five years medical assistant experience with highly complex or chronic disease management is required.
• Certified Medical Assistant through AAMA, NAHP, NCCT, NHA or Registered Medical Assistant or EMT is required.
• BLS certification is required; CPT/phlebotomy technician is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Role models and promotes a positive work environment within the interprofessional care team.
• Collaborates with all health care team members and communicates patient data clearly.
• Acts as a clinical resource/preceptor, mentoring colleagues and guiding decision-making.
• Provides care to patients under supervision, including prep, assessments, and documentation.
