Qualifications

• Graduate from an accredited nursing or physician assistant program.
• Current, unrestricted license to practice as a Registered Nurse and Nurse Practitioner, or as a Physician Assistant in California, plus a DEA license.
• Two years of advanced practice experience preferred.
• Knowledge of human anatomy and physiology.
• Ability to administer prescribed medications and perform physical assessments.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

• Performs routine medical examinations on inmates or detainees under established guidelines.
• Diagnoses and treats acute and chronic medical illnesses.
• Prescribes medication dosages under licensure and as appropriate.
• Orders, performs, or interprets diagnostic tests with physician oversight as needed.
• Maintains comprehensive health care records and treatment plans.
• Schedules follow-up visits and coordinates care with specialists.
