The GEO Group is seeking an Advanced Practice Provider to diagnose and treat acute and chronic illnesses for inmates, emphasizing health promotion and disease prevention. You will work with a healthcare team to order tests, interpret results, and develop treatment plans while adhering to state and DEA licensure.

Qualifications

• Graduate from an accredited school of nursing or physician assistant studies.
• Must have a current, unrestricted license to practice as a Registered Nurse and Nurse Practitioner, or as a Physician Assistant in the state.
• Two (2) years of advanced practice experience preferred.
• Knowledge of human anatomy and physiology.
• Skill in performing uncomplicated surgical procedures.
• Ability to administer prescribed medications and perform complete physical appraisals.
• Ability to identify and evaluate illnesses and initiate diagnostic laboratory tests and evaluate the results.
• Ability to plan, organize and coordinate work assignments.
• Ability to communicate effectively and establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
• Ability to work with computers and the necessary software typically used by the department.

Responsibilities

• Performs routine medical examinations on inmates or detainees under established guidelines.
• Diagnoses and treats acute and chronic medical illnesses.
• Provides medical treatment and services, in conjunction with a physician.
• Develops treatment plans and prognosis based on health conditions.
• Prescribes medication dosages, routes, and frequencies.
• Orders, performs, or interprets diagnostic tests with physician oversight as needed.
