The GEO Group, Inc. is seeking a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to diagnose and treat inmates within a correctional setting.

The role involves independent and team-based care, health promotion, and disease prevention across a range of clinical duties. You will perform examinations, order tests, prescribe medications, and develop treatment plans while maintaining documentation and ensuring regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• Graduate from an accredited school of nursing or physician assistant studies.
• Must have a current, unrestricted RN, NP, or PA license in the state.
• Two years advanced practice experience preferred.
• Knowledge of anatomy and physiology.
• Skill in uncomplicated surgical procedures.
• Ability to administer prescribed medications.
• Ability to perform comprehensive physical assessments.
• Ability to identify and evaluate illnesses.
• Ability to initiate diagnostic tests and interpret results.
• Ability to plan, organize and coordinate care.
• Ability to communicate effectively.
• Ability to work with computers and department software.

Responsibilities

• Diagnoses and treats acute, episodic, or chronic illness.
• Performs or interprets diagnostic tests and prescribes medications.
• Conducts routine medical examinations for inmates/detainees.
• Develops and documents treatment plans and prognosis.
• Counsels patients on medications and side effects.
• Maintains health records and complies with regulations.
• Recommends interventions to modify health risks.
• Educates patients on self-management and prevention.
