Overview

Virginia Oncology Associates, the largest group of medical professionals in Hampton Roads and Northeast North Carolina devoted exclusively to cancer care and blood disorders, has an exciting opportunity for a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to support our office in Elizabeth City, North Carolina.

Responsibilities
  • Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care for oncology patients in an outpatient setting
  • Initiate and document appropriate interventions
  • Evaluate and record patient and family response within practice protocol
  • Prescribes drug therapies per protocol/physician consultation
  • Assess patient and family needs and provides education
  • Promotes/provides staff education
  • Serve as a liaison between inpatient, skilled nursing, and home setting
  • Incorporates evidence-based research into clinical practice
Qualifications
  • Masters of Science in Nursing (MSN) from an accredited program for nursing education and successful completion of a Nurse Practitioner program or successful completion of an accredited Physician Assistant program
  • Two years of post Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant hematology/oncology experience ispreferred
  • Experience and knowledge in the management of the physiological and psychological effects of cancer diagnosis and subsequent treatment
  • RN State License and current registration with the State Board of Nursing in practicing state, along with current state certification of Nurse Practitioner or current state license as a Physician Assistant
  • Current CPR certification required
  • Must be willing to travel to the various practice locations
