Job summary

Virginia Oncology Associates in Chesapeake, VA is seeking an Oncology RN to support our office. This full-time, in-person role involves administering chemotherapy, monitoring patient therapy, venipuncture, port access, and maintaining patient flow with thorough documentation and physician communication.

Required RN license; BSN preferred, oncology experience preferred, BCLS current, and travel between offices as needed. Compensation ranges from $31.85 to $64.75 per hour depending on factors.

Qualifications

• Graduate from an accredited program for professional nursing education required; BSN preferred.
• Oncology experience strongly preferred.
• Current RN state license required.
• Current BCLS certification required.
• OCN certification preferred.
• Must be willing to travel between offices as needed.

Responsibilities

• Administers chemotherapy, hydration, and other medications under the direction and supervision of a physician.
• Assesses and monitors therapy of patients using appropriate technical skills under the direction and supervision of a physician.
• Assesses patients for changes in condition, including but not limited to abnormal labs, x-rays, scans and drug reactions. Initiates appropriate action.
• Performs venipuncture, accesses implanted ports and maintains central venous access devices and alternate delivering systems.
• Maintains efficient and appropriate patient flow.
• Phone triage as assigned.
• Documents all elements of care.
• Serves as a resource to the Medical Assistants.
• Communicates all pertinent information and any interventions to the physician or advanced practice provider.
• Assesses patient and family needs.

Compensation Range

$31.85 - $64.75. Actual pay is determined based on job-related factors such as relevant experience, education, credentials, skills, internal equity, and business needs.
