Job summary

Virginia Oncology Associates in Norfolk and Virginia Beach is seeking a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to support our oncology and hematology patients in outpatient settings. The role requires collaboration across teams and travel between locations.

Ideal candidates hold an MSN and NP or PA credential with relevant oncology experience and CPR certification, and must be willing to travel to multiple office sites.

Qualifications

• MSN from an accredited program and successful completion of a Nurse Practitioner or a Physician Assistant program.
• Two years of post NP/PA hematology/oncology experience preferred.
• RN license and current state registration; NP certification or PA license.
• Current CPR certification.
• Willing to travel to multiple practice locations.

Overview

Virginia Oncology Associates, the largest group of medical professionals in Hampton Roads and Northeast North Carolina devoted exclusively to cancer care and blood disorders, has an exciting opportunity for a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to support our offices located in Norfolk and Virginia Beach.

Responsibilities

• Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care for oncology patients in an outpatient setting
• Initiate and document appropriate interventions
• Evaluate and record patient and family response within practice protocol
• Prescribe drug therapies per protocol/physician consultation
• Assess patient and family needs and provide education
• Promote/provide staff education
• Serve as a liaison between inpatient, skilled nursing, and home setting
• Incorporate evidence‑based research into clinical practice

Qualifications

• Masters of Science in Nursing (MSN) from an accredited program for nursing education and successful completion of a Nurse Practitioner program or successful completion of an accredited Physician Assistant program
• Two years of post Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant hematology/oncology experience is preferred
• Experience and knowledge in the management of the physiological and psychological effects of cancer diagnosis and subsequent treatment
• RN State License and current registration with the State Board of Nursing in practicing state, along with current state certification of Nurse Practitioner or current state license as a Physician Assistant
• Current CPR certification required
• Must be willing to travel to the various practice locations
