Job summary

The US Oncology Network is seeking a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to support our Norfolk and Virginia Beach offices. This role focuses on outpatient oncology care, coordinating assessments, plans, and interventions for cancer patients in a collaborative, evidence-based environment.

Ideal candidates hold an MSN for NP or PA certification, with 2 years of hematology/oncology experience preferred, and must maintain current RN/NP/PA licensure and CPR certification.

Overview

Virginia Oncology Associates, the largest group of medical professionals in Hampton Roads and Northeast North Carolina devoted exclusively to cancer care and blood disorders, has an exciting opportunity for a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to support our offices located in Norfolk and Virginia Beach.

Responsibilities

• Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care for oncology patients in an outpatient setting
• Initiate and document appropriate interventions
• Evaluate and record patient and family response within practice protocol
• Prescribe drug therapies per protocol/physician consultation
• Assess patient and family needs and provide education
• Promote and provide staff education
• Serve as a liaison between inpatient, skilled nursing, and home setting
• Incorporate evidence-based research into clinical practice

Qualifications

• Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) from an accredited program for nursing education and successful completion of a Nurse Practitioner program or successful completion of an accredited Physician Assistant program
• Two years of post‑Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant hematology/oncology experience is preferred
• Experience and knowledge in the management of the physiological and psychological effects of cancer diagnosis and subsequent treatment
• RN State License and current registration with the State Board of Nursing in the practicing state, along with current state certification of Nurse Practitioner or current state license as a Physician Assistant
• Current CPR certification required
• Must be willing to travel to the various practice locations
