Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center seeks a Pediatric Endocrinology Advanced Practice Provider to deliver ambulatory endocrinology care for pediatric patients under physician supervision. You will develop and implement care plans, perform exams, and order tests as needed.

Qualifications

• Graduation from a Physician Assistant training program approved by the AMA Council on Allied Health Education Accreditation.
• Current Physician Assistant license in Texas or eligible to transfer.
• Certification as a Physician Assistant by NCCPA or graduation from an approved Nurse Practitioner program in Texas.

Responsibilities

Position Description

The Pediatric Endocrinology Advanced Practice Provider (APP)provides ambulatory endocrinology care to pediatric patients underthe supervision and collaboration of a physician. Responsibilitiesinclude evaluation, diagnosis, treatment, and ongoing management ofchildren and adolescents with endocrine disorders. This is afull-time outpatient position.

Major/Essential Functions

• Provides patient services under the supervision andresponsibility of a doctor of medicine or osteopathy.
• Develops plans of care with supervising physician, asappropriate, and implements plans in the course of treatingpatients.
• Obtains patient health histories; conducts physicalexaminations, assesses patient complaints, and administersappropriate treatment.
• Determines need for specialized medical testing for diagnosisor treatment; Orders tests appropriately.
• Instructs and counsels patients and families regarding a planof care, problems, and other health care issues.
• Practices independently managing previously diagnosed andundiagnosed patients.
• Provides the full spectrum of healthcare services includinghealth prevention, disease prevention, health protection,anticipatory guidance and counseling, and disease management,palliative care.
• Use advanced health assessment skills to differentiate betweenrounds and variations of normal.
• and abnormal findings.
• Prescribes medication within the scope of practice. Manages thehealth/illness status of patients and families overtime.
• Elicits detailed patient histories.
• Examines patient, performs a comprehensive physicalexamination, and compiles patient medical data, including healthhistory and results of physical examination
• Develops and implements patient management plans, recordsprogress notes, and assists in the provision of continuity ofcare.
• Instructs and counsels patients regarding compliance withprescribed therapeutic regimens, emotional problems of dailyliving, and health maintenance.
• May render emergency medical service without supervision,pending the arrival of a responsible physician, in cases whereimmediate diagnosis and treatment are necessary to avoid disabilityor death.

Required Qualifications

Graduation from a Physician Assistant's training program approvedby the Council on Allied Health Education Accreditation of theAmerican Medical Association. Current Physician Assistant licensein the State of Texas or ability to transfer license to Texas.Certification as a Physician Assistant as evidenced by passing theexaminations given by the National Commission on the Certificationof Physician Assistants. OR Graduation from an accredited school ofnursing as a nurse practitioner from an approved certificationprogram recognized by Texas Board of Nursing. Current R.N. licenseas approved by the Texas Board of Nursing or ability to transferlicense to Texas. Certification as a Nurse Practitioner from anapproved certification program as recognized by Texas Board ofNursing or ability to transfer certification to Texas.
