Job summary

Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center in Odessa, TX seeks an Advanced Practice Provider (Pediatrics) to augment a supervising physician’s data gathering, develop care plans, and deliver comprehensive pediatric health services. The role includes family counseling, diagnostic testing, and emergency care within established protocols.

The ideal candidate has PA or NP credentials, Texas licensure, and a commitment to pediatric care in a team-based setting.

Qualifications

  • Graduation from a Physician Assistant's training program approved by the Council on Allied Health Education Accreditation of the American Medical Association.
  • Current Physician Assistant license in the State of Texas or ability to transfer license to Texas. Certification as a Physician Assistant as evidenced by passing the examinations given by the National Commission on the Certification of Physician Assistants.
  • OR
  • Graduation from an accredited school of nursing as a nurse practitioner from an approved certification program recognized by Texas Board of Nursing.
  • Current R.N. license as approved by the Texas Board of Nursing or ability to transfer license to Texas. Certification as a Nurse Practitioner from an approved certification program as recognized by Texas Board of Nursing or ability to transfer certification to Texas.

Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive medical care to pediatric patients, including health assessments, physical examinations, diagnosis, and management of acute and chronic conditions.
  • Obtain detailed patient and family histories, interpret clinical data, and order/perform diagnostic tests such as labs, imaging, and EKGs.
  • Perform therapeutic and preventive procedures including immunizations, injections, suturing, wound care, and infection management.
  • Develop and implement evidence-based patient care plans, document progress, and ensure continuity of care.
  • Counsel and educate patients and families on treatment adherence, disease prevention, healthy lifestyles, and developmental milestones.
  • Collaborate closely with physicians, nurses, and the interdisciplinary care team to optimize patient outcomes.
  • Provide emergency medical care when necessary, in alignment with clinical protocols and patient safety standards.

Major/Essential Functions
