Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center (TTUHSC) Endocrinology and Diabetes Center of Excellence in West Texas invites a board-certified/eligible endocrinologist to join on a part-time basis. This role focuses on inpatient and outpatient medical care, collaboration with medical students, residents, and fellows.

Qualifications

• Must have completed an Internal Medicine Residency.
• Must have completed an Endocrinology Fellowship.
• Foreign Medical Graduates: ECFMG Certification or Equivalency Certification.

Responsibilities

• Provides medical care by interviewing, examining, and treating patients on a part-time basis.
• Educates patients on wellness, prevention and early detection with materials for patients and families.
• Determines urgency for follow-up, referrals and consultations.
• Prescribes medical treatment and clinical drugs to patients.
• Orders studies, tests and ancillary services.
• Documents all services in patient medical record.
• Consults with other departments and medical staff on patient care and education.
• Participates in quality improvement and continuing education programs.

Visa Information

TTUHSC, at its sole discretion, may initiate new H-1B I-129 visa petitions in accordance with the directive issued by Governor Abbott. Approval from the Texas Workforce Commission is required. On a limited, case-by-case basis, the institution may also sponsor eligible individuals for change-of-status or change-of-employer petitions for qualifying positions. TTUHSC will not pay the $100,000 fee, if applicable.

Position Description

Texas Tech Physicians Endocrinology and Diabetes Center of Excellence is staffed with highly equipped professionals who have specific experience treating metabolic disorders in west Texas. Our providers are some of the most specialized in the region. Staffed with leading educators and researchers, our clinic strives to access effective treatment and reduce risks for patients with a variety of complications.

Major/Essential Functions

• Provides medical care by interviewing, examining, and treating patients on a part-time basis;
• Educates patients on wellness, prevention and early detection by providing materials and resources to the patients and families;
• Determines level of urgency of follow-up, referral/consultation appointments;
• Prescribes medical treatment and clinical drugs to patients;
• Orders studies, test and ancillary services;
• Documents all services in patient medical record;
• Consults with other departments and medical staff professionals as needed regarding patient care, assessment, and education issues;
• Participates in quality improvement, management, continuing education, and other patient care programs established by the hospital or clinic requirements;
• Participate in the education and training of medical students, residents, and fellows.

Required Qualifications

• Completion of Internal Medicine Residency Program;
• Completion of Endocrinology Fellowship.
• Foreign Medical Graduates Only: ECFMG Certification OR Equivalency Certification.

Preferred Qualifications

• 10+ years experience in Endocrinology;
• Active Texas Medical License.
