Job summary

UMass Memorial Health is seeking a Patient Care Technician I to participate in direct patient care under licensed clinicians. You will support daily living activities, monitor patients’ condition, and assist with examinations and treatments in a high-demand hospital setting.

The role requires English proficiency, BLS certification, and prior patient care experience. A signing bonus may be available along with comprehensive benefits and a structured orientation.

Qualifications

• Minimum high school education or GED.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS).
• Ability to read, write and communicate in English clearly.
• Medical terminology knowledge.
• Competent computer skills.
• Strong interpersonal and problem-solving abilities.
• Remain calm under stress or emergency situations.

Responsibilities

• Provide clear, timely communication to the RN about patient observations and changes.
• Maintain constant observation of high-risk patients as assigned.
• Assist in maintaining a safe environment and de-escalate when needed.
• Support activities of daily living and patient comfort.
• Help move, lift, position, and transport patients with proper technique.
• Take vital signs and record measurements; document height and weight.
