Job summary

Virginia Western Community College seeks a full-time Advanced Manufacturing and Technology Faculty (Lecturer) to teach machine tool operation, CNC programming, CAD/CAM, and related topics, with emphasis on hands-on training and industry-aligned curricula for high school and adult learners.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Five years of experience in a machining environment using metalworking tools, primarily lathes and mills, with CNC/G-code programming.
  • Must hold a current—or actively apply for and attain—VDOE Teaching License for high school instruction.
  • Must be certified in all National Institute of Metalworking Skills (NIMS) Level 1 credentials within six months of hire.
  • Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication; ability to develop syllabi and exams; ability to develop learning strategies, curriculum and assessments.
  • Teaching assignments may range from summer camps to high school and adult courses.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and teach CNC machining classes and related curricula.
  • Coordinate with Program Coordinators and industry stakeholders.
  • Engage with K-12 and adult learners; support apprenticeships.
  • Support recruitment and program development; measure outcomes.
