  • Experience operating equipment in extreme weather conditions.
  • Comfort with third shift and overtime.

  • Groom Stratton's trails and maintain trail grades.

  • Communicate progress and issues to the supervisor and crew.
  • Assist with training Groomer I and II operators.
  • Support snowmaking and other mountain operations as needed.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Advanced Groomer operates heavy construction equipment and/or snow grading equipment with attachments and accomplishes assigned job requests with minimal direct supervision. This person understands objectives of job functions, knows capability of equipment and completes assignments in a safe, efficient and acceptable manner. Additionally, the Advanced Groomer is responsible for assisting the Foreman in the training of Journeyman operators. This is a full-time seasonal position, compensated at $25.00 - $29.00/hour, based on experience.

Recruitment for this role will be ongoing through December.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES
  • Operating a vehicle is an essential function and will require the applicant to meet the minimum requirements of the Intrawest Drivers Standards Policy
  • Grooming Stratton's trails consistent with the operations plan for the next day
  • Appropriately responding to weather conditions and how it will affect grooming
  • Communicating with evening supervisor and the rest of the crew throughout the evening to report progress, issues, breakdowns, changes etc.
  • Pushing snow in early season
  • Build and maintain proper grades for lift ramps and mazes
  • Deliver propane to various outbuildings on the mountain
  • Assist the snowmaking department with moving of equipment when needed
  • Building of start bumps for mogul events
  • Training and mentoring of Groomer level I and II operators
  • Freestyle terrain (park) building and maintenance
  • Work in a safe and appropriate manner utilizing all safety equipment provided
  • Maintaining grooming logs on a nightly basis
  • Communicating with Mechanics about any equipment issues or breakdowns
  • Perform nightly checks before operating equipment
  • Responsible for cleaning snow cats on a nightly basis
  • Must be able to work third shift through the night efficiently and safely
  • Required to work weekends and holidays
  • Overtime may be required, but not guaranteed
  • Working knowledge of snow cat maintenance, basic troubleshooting, and the ability to fix/maintain minor issues
QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY REQUIREMENTS
  • 5+ years of grooming experience, park building experience and/or winch cat experience
  • Must be at least 18+ years of age
  • Valid Driver's License
  • Skiing or snowboarding experience is a plus
  • Must be able to operate equipment in extreme weather conditions
  • Must be able to work third shift through the night efficiently and safely
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONS

This position will be required to work evenings, weekends and holidays.
