The Advanced Aquatic Director provides overall direction, coordination, and success of YMCA Pool operations. What is needed for this job:

  • 2+ years of experience with current ARC Lifeguard/Water Park, CPR for Professional Rescuer, First Aid, Administering Emergency Oxygen, and YMCA Swim Lesson Instructor certification with 2 years of related experience.
  • 2+ years experience in fitness, retail, recreation management, or hospitality industries.
  • 2+ years experience managing 50+ team members.
  • 2+ years experience managing Profit and Loss (P&L) statements, revenue, EBITDA budgets.
  • Experience providing high-end member service and managing member concerns.
  • Pursue CPO and applicable certifications related to your location within 6 months.
  • Ability to use water chemistry test kit.

Responsibilities include:

  • Provide leadership in delivering quality within the YMCA aquatic department.
  • Understand branch revenue and program goals; plan and execute daily/weekly workload to meet department and membership goals.
  • Foster a positive environment where teams enjoy working and members enjoy visiting; recognize member-centered behaviors and reward outstanding performance.
  • Promote diversity, inclusion, global engagement, and cultural competence within the team.
  • Work a schedule aligned with guest and business needs, including early mornings, evenings, and weekends.
  • Ensure the swimming facility meets or exceeds Aquatic Safety Standards.
  • Facilitate monthly in-service meetings for skill review.
  • Supervise staff, ensure appropriate staffing, coordinate breaks, and monitor staff performance and member service.
  • Develop high-quality aquatics programs, including swim lessons and water fitness.
  • Ensure safety and injury prevention by supervising the pool area and monitoring signs of distress.
