The Advanced Aquatics Director provides overall direction, coordination, and success of YMCA Pool operations. Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in related field.
- 2+ years of experience with current ARC Lifeguard/Water Park, CPR for Professional Rescuer, First Aid, Administering Emergency Oxygen, and YMCA Swim Lesson Instructor certification with 2 years of related experience.
- 2+ years experience in fitness, retail, recreation management, or hospitality industries.
- 2+ years experience managing 50+ team members.
- 2+ years experience managing Profit and Loss (P&L) statements/revenue/EBITDA budgets.
- Experience providing high-end member service and managing member concerns.
- Pursue CPO and applicable certifications related to your location within 6 months.
- Ability to use water chemistry test kit.
Essential Functions
- Provide leadership in the delivery of quality within the YMCA aquatic department.
- Understand overall branch revenue and program goals, plan and execute daily/weekly workload to deliver department goals, membership goals, and member engagement.
- Champion a culture where teams love to work, and members love to visit; recognize member-centered behaviors and reward outstanding performance.
- Create and sustain an environment that values all people for their unique talents. Take an active role in promoting and leveraging practices that support diversity, inclusion, global engagement, and cultural competence.
- Work a schedule that aligns with guest and business needs (including early mornings, evenings, and weekends).
- Ensure the swimming facility meets or exceeds Aquatic Safety Standards.
- Facilitate monthly in-service meetings that include skill review.
- Supervise staff, ensure appropriate staffing of the pool, coordinate breaks, and rotate staff. Ensure program quality and monitor staff performance and member service.
- Develop high-quality aquatics programs, including swim lessons and water fitness, that meet community needs.
- Ensure safety and prevent injuries by supervising the pool area, ensuring no distractions or interference with the ability to hear or see signs of distress.
