Qualifications

  • 2+ years’ experience in fitness, retail, recreation management, or hospitality.
  • 2+ years’ supervisory and management experience.
  • Must pursue American Red Cross Lifeguard certification and YMCA swim lesson instructor certification.

Base pay range

$47,000.00/yr - $52,000.00/yr

About the Role

The Advanced Aquatics Director provides overall direction, coordination, and success of YMCA Pool operations. This role involves serving as a YMCA ambassador, providing members and staff with a great experience, building confidence in youth, and connecting diverse populations to healthier lives. Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
  • 2+ years’ experience in fitness, retail, recreation management, or hospitality industries.
  • 2+ years’ supervisory and management experience.
  • Experience providing high-end member service and managing member concerns.
  • Strong leadership skills and a passion for member service, building, and maintaining a culture of excellence.
  • Upon hire, must pursue American Red Cross Lifeguard certification and YMCA swim lesson instructor certification.
Key Responsibilities
  • Provide leadership in delivering quality within the aquatic department.
  • Understand branch revenue and program goals; plan and execute workload to meet department, membership, and engagement goals.
  • Foster a positive team culture and recognize member-centered behaviors.
  • Promote diversity, inclusion, and cultural competence.
  • Work a schedule that includes early mornings, evenings, and weekends based on guest and business needs.
  • Ensure the swimming facility meets or exceeds safety standards.
  • Facilitate monthly staff meetings and skill reviews.
  • Supervise staff, ensure proper staffing, and monitor performance and service quality.
  • Develop high-quality aquatics programs, including swim lessons and water fitness.
  • Supervise safety and prevent injuries by monitoring the pool area.
