The Advanced Aquatics Director provides overall direction, coordination, and success of YMCA Pool operations. What is needed for this job:
- 2+ years’ experience in fitness, retail, recreation management, or hospitality industries.
- 2+ years’ supervisory and management experience.
- Experience providing high-end member service and managing member concerns.
- Upon hire, you’ll be required to pursue American Red Cross Lifeguard certification as well as YMCA swim lesson instructor certification.
Responsibilities include:
- Providing leadership in the delivery of quality within the YMCA aquatic department.
- Understanding overall branch revenue and program goals, and planning daily/weekly workloads to meet department, membership, and engagement goals.
- Fostering a culture where teams enjoy working and members enjoy visiting; recognizing member-centered behaviors and rewarding outstanding performance.
- Creating and maintaining an environment that values all individuals for their unique talents, supporting diversity, inclusion, global engagement, and cultural competence.
- Working a schedule that aligns with guest and business needs, including early mornings, evenings, and weekends.
- Ensuring the swimming facility meets or exceeds Aquatic Safety Standards.
- Facilitating monthly in-service meetings, including skill reviews.
- Supervising staff, ensuring appropriate staffing and breaks, and monitoring staff performance and member service quality.
- Developing high-quality aquatics programs, including swim lessons and water fitness classes tailored to community needs.
- Supervising pool safety to prevent injuries, ensuring the ability to detect signs of distress without distraction or interference.
