Job summary

SCI in Hampton, VA seeks an Advance Planning Funeral Director to serve client families by arranging pre-need plans and engaging communities. The role focuses on revenue generation for the location and acts as the primary contact for families across multiple communities.

The position requires eventful prospecting, strong relationship-building skills, and the ability to work with a team of funeral professionals to deliver personalized service.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• 1-2 years of college or equivalent experience preferred.
• 1-2 years of customer service or sales experience preferred.
• Must have a valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record.
• Insurance license if required by state, and state Funeral Directors license.
• Must pass internal presentation certification within 30 days of hire.
• Ability to work evenings and weekends.
• Ability to drive frequently and manage travel as needed.
• Must maintain empathy and respect in all family interactions.
• Proficiency with computers and common software.

Responsibilities

• Lead generation: prospect 1-2 hours daily and obtain referrals.
• Networks and builds community and civic relationships.
• Present to families and referred families; track activity levels.
• Respond to inquiries in a timely, respectful, professional manner.
• Develop understanding of each family’s needs and offer value solutions.
• Stay in touch with families to ensure satisfaction.
• Prepare for appointments and perform procedures with professionalism.
• Follow through on customer problems and requests.
• Build trust-based relationships to earn referrals and educate on pre-planning benefits.
• Collaborate with funeral directors and staff for seamless service.
• Review past family contacts to support current needs and sales.
