Job summary

Baltimore City Community College seeks an Intake Assessment Specialist to serve as the first point of contact for prospective adult learners. The role involves conducting intake, administering TABE/CASAS, determining placement, and supporting learners through onboarding.

Reporting to the Director of ABE, you will coordinate orientations, manage the Testing Center, and train staff on assessment policies while ensuring compliance with state and federal reporting requirements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution required.
• Minimum of two years of professional experience in adult education, workforce development, student services, or a related field.
• Experience conducting intake, advising, and educational assessments; familiarity with TABE, CASAS, GED Ready or similar assessments.
• Knowledge of adult education principles and student-centered practices; strong customer service and organizational skills.
• Ability to work with diverse populations and to analyze data while ensuring compliance with reporting requirements.

Responsibilities

• Conduct learner intake interviews and advise on eligibility for ABE, GED, ESL, and workforce programs.
• Coordinate orientation, registration, intake, and assessment sessions.
• Administer and interpret TABE, CASAS, and other approved assessments in line with MDL policies.
• Determine educational functioning levels and placement, coordinate testing center operations.
• Maintain learner records and assist with data quality and reporting; communicate placement decisions to instructors.
