Position Summary

This is a Part Time Hourly position that supports the English Language Learning (ELL) team in assessing and registering current and new English Basic Skills (EBS) students for Department of Labor (DOL) and Maryland Higher Education Commission (MHEC) funded courses at AACC campuses and various Community sites.

Job Duties And Responsibilities
  • Completes various intake and assessment functions
  • Assists with front desk operations, including communicating with students by phone, text, and email to provide program information, reminders, and attendance follow-up.
  • Managing inquiries via phone, email, and walk-ins.
  • Reports assessment event attendance and support requirements to the ELL Program Coordinator or ELL Assistant Director
  • Assists students with Continuing Education & Workforce Development Request for Registration process
  • Represent the department at community events, as needed, to promote programs and contribute to recruitment efforts.
  • Prepare materials for assessment sessions, including ordering supplies, making copies, organizing test booklets, and ensuring secure storage of test materials and student records.
  • Proctor student assessment in accordance with CASAS training standards
  • Maintain accurate student records by entering contact information and test scores into rosters and databases.
  • Respond to staff and instructor inquiries regarding student enrollment and testing information.
  • Assist with collecting and distributing class sign-in sheets, verifying student eligibility for placement and testing, and monitoring attendance with follow-up as needed.
  • Attends bi-weekly ELL Team Updates and ELL-AE department meetings when available.
  • Daily Supervision: ELL Program Coordinator; General Supervision: ELL Director
Required Qualifications
  • High School Diploma
  • Reliable transportation to support assessments across the county
  • Fluency in Spanish
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel
  • Willingness to successfully complete CASAS eTest and TOPSpro online trainings if not already certified
  • Ability to work flexible schedule, including daytime and evening hours
  • Experience managing basic administrative duties in a professional office setting.
  • Strong customer service and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Agree to and pass a Background Check
Preferred Qualifications
  • Associate’s degree
  • Experience or trained with CASAS paper or electronic testing
