Job summary

George Mason University’s Office of Admissions seeks a part-time Admissions Operations Assistant to support daily operations and respond to inquiries from applicants. The role rotates across admissions units, providing office support and professional project work to help sustain an agile admissions team.

This is a long-term, on-site opportunity in Fairfax, VA. Qualifications include strong communication, customer service, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment; preferred candidates

Responsibilities

  • Supports the daily review of undergraduate freshmen, transfers, graduate, and non-degree domicile statuses.
  • Processes supporting domiciliary documentation.
  • Processes transcripts or other supporting documentation.
  • Reviews undergraduate non-degree admissions applications.
  • Responds to inquiries from a variety of sources and provide information to necessary parties in a timely and professional manner.
  • Serves as a back-up graduate processing specialist.
  • Provides administrative support to the admissions specialists and an enhanced customer service experience to our applicants.
  • Assists with processing credit by exams and transfer credit equivalencies; and
  • Additional responsibilities as assigned to help support the Office of Admissions.

About the Department:

The Division for Enrollment Management, as a part of the Office ofthe Provost at George Mason University, supports studentrecruitment, retention, and success. We develop and implementstrategic enrollment management plans, create and facilitateprocesses, and inform policies that guide students through theiracademic journey from recruitment to post-matriculation. About the Position:

The Admissions Operations Assistant will serve as needed in avariety of Admissions Operations spaces, rotating to learn eachunits’ roles and responsibilities serving as an agile team member.This role combines daily office support and professional projectwork to assist the team. This is an ongoing position, and we are seeking an individual whowill become a long-term team member.

Responsibilities may include some or all of thefollowing:
  • Supports the daily review of undergraduate freshmen, transfers,graduate, and non-degree domicile statuses;

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education andexperience;
  • Data entry experience;
  • Experience with Ellucian Banner software; Salesforce CRM,and/or TES (Transfer Evaluation System); and
  • Bilingual.
