Responsibilities

  • Greet and assist prospective students, admitted students, applicants, and visitors at the JD Admissions Office.
  • Answer and direct admissions phone calls and respond to inquiries.
  • Provide administrative support to the Associate Dean for Admissions and Enrollment Management, including scheduling and calendars.
  • Assist with purchasing, reimbursements, vouchers, invoices, and supplies.
  • Coordinate recruitment events and manage Student Ambassadors.
  • Schedule prospective student tours, group visits, and other visitor activities.
  • Coordinate communications, mailings, and routine follow-up.
  • Enter and maintain information in admissions databases and spreadsheets.
  • Prepare materials, reports, and correspondence as needed.
  • Maintain daily office operations and assist other duties as assigned.

About the Department: The Antonin Scalia Law School at George Mason University is seeking a part-time Admissions Assistant to support the JD Admissions Office. About the Position: The Admissions Assistant offers administrative and front-office support to the JD Admissions Office, handling inquiries from prospective students, applicants, admitted students, and visitors.

This is a temporary, part-time position designed to provideadditional administrative and front-office support to the JDAdmissions Office during a period of staffing transition. Theinitial employment is temporary, however, may be extended underdepartmental needs and funding.

The Admissions Assistant will handle front desk duties, provideadministrative support to the Associate Dean for Admissions andEnrollment Management, assist with purchasing, organize admissionsevents, manage Student Ambassadors, and oversee daily officeoperations.

Work Schedule: The Admissions Office operates from 9:00 amto 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday. It is anticipated to require18-25 hours of work per week during those hours. Priority will begiven to candidates who can work Fridays from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm.Specific workdays and hours will be established based ondepartmental needs and the selected candidate’s availability.

Hourly Rate: Pay up to $24.00 per hour, commensurate witheducation and experience.

Responsibilities:

  • Serve as a first point of contact for the JD Admissions Officeby greeting and assisting prospective students, admitted students,applicants, and visitors;
  • Answer and direct Admissions Office phone calls and respond toor route general inquiries;
  • Provide administrative support to the Associate Dean forAdmissions and Enrollment Management, including schedulingmeetings, maintaining calendars, preparing materials, and assistingwith other administrative needs;
  • Assist with purchasing and financial administration, includingpurchase orders, reimbursements, vouchers, invoices, and supplyorders;
  • Provide administrative and logistical support for prospectiveand admitted student recruitment and other Admissions Officeevents;
  • Assist with day-to-day administration of the Student Ambassadorprogram, including scheduling, communications, timekeeping, andcoordination for Admissions Office programs and activities;
  • Assist with scheduling and coordinating prospective studenttours, group visits, appointments, and other visitor-facingactivities;
  • Assist with Admissions Office communications, correspondence,mailings, and routine administrative follow-up;
  • Enter and maintain information in admissions databases,spreadsheets, and other office records;
  • Prepare materials, reports, spreadsheets, and correspondence asneeded;
  • Assist with general office organization and dailyadministrative operations; and
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support the JD AdmissionsOffice.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required;
  • Experience in a customer-facing, administrative, or officesupport role;

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous experience working in higher education, particularlyin admissions or student services;
  • Experience providing administrative support to a manager orsenior-level professional;
  • Experience with purchasing, reimbursements, invoices, orrelated administrative processes;
  • Familiarity with student information systems or admissionsdatabases, such as Unite or similar systems;
  • Experience supporting events or front-office operations;and
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to exercise soundjudgment in handling inquiries.
