Job summary

Otterbein Universal Home Health seeks a detail-oriented Intake & Authorization Coordinator to support home health and hospice services. This in-office role ensures timely referrals, accurate authorizations, and smooth admission processes while maintaining patient privacy and compliance.

You will verify payer coverage, manage documents in the EMR, and coordinate with referral sources to ensure a seamless start of care for patients and families. Collaboration with Shared Services is essential.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree or equivalent experience preferred.
• Minimum 1 year experience in admissions, authorization, or administrative work preferred.
• Familiarity with EMR and healthcare systems such as Allscripts, Trella Health, PCC, MatrixCare, and Careficient preferred.
• Valid driver’s license and insurance required.
• Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills required.

Responsibilities

• Answer and respond to intake calls with urgency and professionalism.
• Coordinate referrals, insurance authorizations, and admission details to support a fast start of care.
• Gather patient information and enter into EMR accurately; update as needed.
• Assemble and manage start-of-care (SOC) or admission packets.
• Notify patients of out-of-pocket costs and collect payments as needed.
• Manage the MSP (Medicare Secondary Payer) process.
• Verify payer coverage through electronic portals and maintain eligibility records.
• Upload and manage documents and physician orders in the EMR.
